Don't Sour Over Vinegars

So many choices can be over-whelming!

Don't stress, here are some helpful handy hints...
  • Check the acidity level on the label. Higher acid=stronger taste. Most are 4-7% acid. 5-6% acid is acceptable for most dishes.
  • Red wine based vinegars are great for salads & Mediterranean type dishes.
  • Apple cider vinegar is wonderful for vegetable type salads, including potato salad.
  • White vinegar is good for all your cleaning needs. (check other posts here)
  • Rice vinegar, which has a mild flavor, is the choice for Asian inspired dishes.
  • Balsamic is, of course, my personal #1 choice for salads, marinades, gravies, soups, & when reduced, is a tongue tantalizing treat on fruits, brushetta, etc.
